Khikhvi is local less known grape sort. It gives high quality table white wine and in a few micro regions high quality desert wine.

Khikhvi with its economical traits and characteristics pertains to prol. Pontica, subprol. Georgica Negr ecological-geographical grape sorts.

On the whole two grape sorts - arised from Kolkheti and Alazani fields, are different on the whole, morphological and economival traits and characters. Kolkhetian grape sorts are charactered with thick cobwabie hairness on the lower side of the foliages, with lower or middle size clusters and round grains, when Alazanian sorts are lower hairness or doesn’t have any hairness at all, middle size or big clusters and oval grains.

From Khikhvi grapes on the whole are making table and desert wines. High quality wine is producing as from European style of pressing, from Kakhetian style too. European wine is light straw-colored and limpid. Has pleasant flavor, tender, harmonious taste. Kakhetian style is dark tea-colored, very full and harmonious.
